Gas prices have reduced fertilizer production, and AdBlue for engines may also be missing

BRATISLAVA, Oct 11 (TASR) - While UK motorists in recent days have had fuel shortages at petrol stations due to a shortage of tank drivers, in Europe the additive to modern AdBlue diesel engines may become a scarce commodity. One of the largest producers of this product is Duslo, which due to rising gas prices has suppressed the production of some fertilizers and the associated production of AdBlue. Restrictions or interruptions in production have also been reported by other producers of AdBlue, Economy Minister Richard Sollick (SaS) reported in a meeting with reporters on Monday.

“The production of AdBlue is also associated with the production of fertilizers, and Duslo is the largest producer in Europe. The second largest company in Germany has begun to reduce production of Ad Blue. The third largest in Poland has stopped productionSolik said, according to the minister, that enough of the product would be a problem in the near future, and did not rule out that MH would ban the product, reducing nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines.

According to the minister, the autonomous production of the product is not economically sustainable and is therefore part of the production of other natural gas products. “This is a problem that we will bring to the table soon,Solik added.

The minister also responded to statements from other companies, that higher prices for energy and other inputs have complicated business. According to him, some of them, such as the aluminum plant in Slovalco, will be replaced by higher energy prices due to higher prices for their products in the market. Solik noted that higher electricity prices, for example, only apply to the following winter months, and spot prices for April next year are already within the usual limits.
