A well-known Chinese electronics producer also wants to ride the wave of electric mobility development.
Manufacturers of electric vehicles, as well as associated technologies and related services, are increasing every day. The new trend in traffic electrification is also evident in the Chinese company Xiaomi, which has created a new company called Xiaomi EV Inc. , Writes Numbers.
The abbreviation EV in the new company’s name indicates a connection to electric vehicles (EV – Electric Vehicles). Another evidence of the Chinese giant’s entry into the attractive market is its recent acquisition of DeepMotion, which develops autonomous vehicle control systems. Among other things, this acquisition indicates that the Xiaomi EV will want to compete directly with established companies such as Tesla and the like.
Xiaomi was already investing 10 billion yuan in the new company, or about 1.31 billion euros. At the same time, the company has already employed more than 300 employees, who are allegedly already fully engaged in research on the electric vehicle market, including the supply chain.
However, the question at the moment is whether the Xiaomi EV will focus on developing fully electric cars, or will focus only on some of its components and technologies, which it will be able to offer to other interested parties.
