When Microsoft introduced the new Windows 11 in June, many users preparing to upgrade from older Windows 10 or previous versions of the system were surprised by the requirements to install it.
The big obstacle for a large number of users will be the necessary hardware component. However, Microsoft has now changed the terms and will allow Windows 11 to be installed on older PCs with weaker hardware. However, the portal has warned that it will not work despite the regular update Android salad.
Microsoft has modified the requirements for Windows 11
The company has made some concessions to make Windows 11 available to users of older operating systems. Even from old Windows 7, users will be able to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11 It will not be a classic upgrade in the form of an upgrade.
Another part of users may then be concerned that they will not install the latest operating system from Microsoft on their PC due to the lack of a TPM 2.0 chip, which is one of the minimum requirements for Windows 11. However, the giant has changed its strict conditions and that Windows 11 will also be available for older PCs with quite basic equipment.
Minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11:
- CPU: 1 GHz with min. 2 cores and 64-bit architecture support
- RAM: 4 GB
- Memory: 64 GB
- System Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot
- TPM (Trusted Platform Module): Version 2.0
- GPU: DirectX 12 or WDDM 2.0 compatible
- Display: at least HD, 9-channel, 8-bit
Windows 11 already supports Intel Core X and Xeon W processors, as well as the older Intel Core 7820HQ than the Surface 2, which was used in the rendering of the new system. However, upgrade terms will vary.
If a user wants to switch to Windows 11 in the fall using the update via Settings, they will need at least an 8th generation Intel processor, AMD Zen 2, a secure UEFI boot, and said TPM 2.0 chip. At least 64 GB of memory and 4 GB of RAM remain a prerequisite.
The latest version of Windows 11 starts with an old computer with potential problems
However, Microsoft will allow you to install Windows 11 without such requirements, but you will need a clean manual installation from the ISO file. In this case, you will only need a computer with a 64-bit processor at least 1 GHz, 64 GB of RAM, and 4 GB of RAM to run the system.
Thus the company will be able to use the latest system on old computers with basic equipment on more favorable terms, but the user will have to have access to a clean installation.
However, in this case, the operating system may not work reliably. Microsoft has confirmed that devices that do not meet the general minimum requirements (see above) have up to 52% more deaths due to blue screens. Although it will allow you to use Windows 11 on older devices, a better alternative is definitely to use the system on a more modern PC that meets all the recommended minimum requirements.
