More than five percent of the positive COVID-19 cases collected last month in a major Ontario study are of concern for highly contagious corona virus strains, according to a new report.
Of the 1,880 positive samples analyzed from January 20, 103, or 5.5 per cent may be UK B1.1.7 or South African B1.353 anxiety types.
Of those, 89 belonged to the Simco-Muscoca public health department, and 85 were directly linked to the Roberta Place long-term care home explosion, where 66 of the 129 residents are now dead.
Other places that made different cases on January 20 were Peel (six cases), York Region (one case), Toronto (five cases), Waterloo (one case) and Durham (one case).
Of the 103 cases, 16 or 1.2 percent were in the community, not related to the eruptions at Roberta Place.
According to Dr. David Williams, chief medical officer of the health center, the overall outcome is small, but Ontarians should not be complacent as differences spread in the community.
“It’s an‘ oh, not good ’, and we know it’s spreading in the community around Christmas,” he said.
Public Health Ontario (PHO) and other related laboratories have been directing the most positive COVID-19 cases since January 20. Advanced analysis of “point distribution” including the entire genetic sequence as part of the study.
About 3,003 positive samples have been available for screening in the province since January 20, but PHO was only able to obtain 1,880 of them.
As of yesterday, there were 153 confirmed cases in the province, and dozens more possible differentiated cases related to explosions at long-term care homes in Simco County.
The B.1.1.7 variant, first detected in the UK, is about 50 percent more contagious than the older “wild” variants of the corona virus in Ontario.
Scientists say the B1,353 variant, first discovered in South Africa, is more contagious than older variants and may avoid some of the immunity given by some Govt-19 vaccines.
The head of Ontario’s COVID – 19 science table said the B.1.1.7 variant will dominate the detection of positive events by March.
PHO Chief Microbiologist Dr. Vanessa Allen, b. He said he had observed the 1.1.7 variation doubling “every one to two weeks”, but added that more monitoring was needed to monitor its spread going forward.
For now, all positive samples from Pearson Airport are immediately screened for the presence of variation.
In the coming days, PHO will be able to verify any positive model for variance.
If variations are to prevail, in order to spread within control, existing public health measures must be extended or improved, assuming that mass immunity through vaccination is only a few months away.
That revelation prompted the provincial and central governments to introduce a series of new regulations, making foreign air travel much more difficult.
Public Health Ontario said only three of the 103 variation cases found in the January 20 study were among those who recently went abroad.
Different cases are detected by a detailed analysis of the results of standard PCR Covit-19 experiments, and with very intense and long complete genetic sequences of the viral profile of the virus.
