The President of the European Council, Tusk, has been elected leader of Poland’s largest opposition party

Donald Tusk became president of the largest Polish opposition party, Civic Tribune.

Former European Council leader Donald Tusk was officially elected head of Poland’s largest opposition party, Civic Platform, on Saturday. This was announced on Sunday by the PO party’s election commissioner, Dorota Nedzilova, PAP reported.

“I can confirm that candidate Donald Tusk has obtained the required number of votes and has been elected as the head of the civic programme,” said Nidzilova.

Tusk was the only candidate for this position. According to Niedzielov√°, he received 97.4 percent of the votes of Labor members in the party vote.

Tusk led the Labor Party, of which he was one of its founders, on July 3, when Boris Budka resigned from the post of head of this party. At the same time, Tusk also announced that he decided to return to Polish politics because, according to him, PO is a team of quite special people.

According to PAP, Donald Tusk (64 years old) is one of the most successful Polish politicians. Tusk was Prime Minister of Poland from 2007 to 2014, after leaving Polish politics, he became President of the European Council and later President of the European People’s Party (EPP). During his presidency of the European Council from 2014 to 2019, he addressed the migration crisis, the economic crisis in Greece, as well as the Brexit negotiations.
