Five players from the German national football team have entered mandatory isolation for the Corona virus test by Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule. The Germans are expecting the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at home against Liechtenstein and Armenia this week.
The German Football Association (DFB) said Seoul has been fully vaccinated and has no symptoms of Covid-19. His Bayern teammates Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musial as well as Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi were forced into isolation due to his close contacts.
The other players from the team continue to prepare for the qualifying matches, despite the cancellation of Tuesday morning’s training by the team’s management. Coach Hansi Flick also called up three players – Riddle Baku, Maximilian Arnold from Wolfsburg and Monaco striker Kevin Volland.
“Reports like this shortly before the last two qualifiers are very bitter for the coaches and the whole team. But health of course comes first. I wish the player a speedy recovery.” Oliver Bierhoff, director of the German Association, was quoted by German news agency DPA.
The Germans, as the designated winners of the Japanese group, will play in Wolfsburg against Liechtenstein on November 11, and three days later they will present themselves in Yerevan against Armenia.
