XTERRA England awarded ‘Gold’ status

XTERRA England, which in 2015 is doubling as the European Championships and once again takes place at the Vachery Estate, Cranleigh Surrey on the 29th/30th October has been awarded ‘Gold’ status by the organisers of the XTERRA race series for 2015 in a new classification system for their races.

THe classification of Gold, Silver or Bronze helps elite pros and top age-groupers identify the biggest races in Europe where the prize money and qualifying chances are greatest for the XTERRA World Championships in Maui on the 1st of November.

This month you voted Jodie Swallow our Triathlete of the Year 2014 in your thousands, after a brilliant and consisting year bothering podiums and winning big races. It was a seminal year for Swallow, who had left one mentor in Brett Sutton and found another in super-coach Siri Lindley.

Tim Don offers a tease

Fresh from his Ironman Mallorca victory and only a few hours after Kienle was crowned the Ironman World Champion for 2014, Tim Don has teased his intentions for next year, and there is little doubt they include Kona.

Wow, wow, wow. After 12 months of epic long distance racing it has all come down to this and emerging at the front of the pack to claim a stunning world 2014 title in Kona, Hawaii.

In the case of Kienle, he executed a huge bike leg that won him the race and his first Ironman world title. Carfrae defended her title and now has 3 big trophies on her cabinet.

British interest was peaked by Rachel Joyce continuing her amazingly consistent track record in Kona with a 3rd place on the podium, whilst through the field other Brits racing included Dan Halksworth, Paul Ambrose, Harry Wiltshire, Jodie Swallow, Liz Blatchford, Lucy Gossage and Corinne Abraham. Brits head to South America

ITU World Cup action continues this weekend in Colombia with Emma Pallant and Tom Bishop representing Great Britain. Chris Frost competes in the Manaus ITU World Paratriathlon event in Brazil.

Ritchie Nicholls takes 2nd at Challenge Walchsee

As the fog hung low over the Tyrolean mountains, the deafening start cannon sent the 1,300 Challenge Walchsee athletes on their 113km journey through the Kaiserwinkl which would result in a fourth victory for Yvonne van Vlerken (NED) with Giulio Molinaro (ITA) taking out the men’s title, whilst Ritchie Nichols would finish 2nd.
