Weekend Preview: Ironman Lanzarote, Ironman Texas and much more….

It’s a big weekend on the WTC Ironman circuit this weekend - with the series rolling into Europe and one of the biggest US races in town. When you add to the mix Ironman Florida 70.3, Ironman Austria - and on the domestic scene the Marazion Middle - there’s lots of build up to cover.

Here is your weekly round up of who is racing where!

Weekend Preview: Ironman Texas 70.3 & Ironman California 70.3

Updated: 26th March - Amey has withdrawn

You might be forgiven for not noticing later in the week, as Lance-fever will surely descend, but there will be two races on the Ironman 70.3 circuit this weekend.

Ironman 70.3 Texas is on Sunday and is bound to get the attention of not only the tri press but also the mainstream as a certain Lance Armstrong continues his venture towards Kona. But before then we have Ironman 70.3 California on the Saturday. There is Brit interest in both races.

Disappointment in San Juan

Ironman San Juan 70.3 promised so much - with current top Brit male Paul Amey looking to utilise the run leg and score some big points. He was joined by Jonathon Hotchkiss. Neither produced their desired results unfortunately.

Amey could only manage 7th place in a time of 4:03:42 whilst Hotchkiss appears to DNF after the bike.

Taking to Twitter, Hotchkiss wrote: “All 2 familiar story i’m afraid. Wasnt supposed 2go THAT badly… Lots of hard work don but stil Q’s 2ask & answers 2 find #WheresMyMojo”

A report on any Brit age group podiums will follow.

Weekend Preview: Ironman 70.3 San Juan and Ironman 70.3 Singapore

There are two races coming up this weekend to interest the long distance triathlon fan, and at this time of the year they are predictably in warmer climates than most of my readers.

Ironman 70.3 San Juan and Ironman 70.3 Singapore are on the calendar with KPR points on and age-group slots up for grabs.

Brit Performances in Panama

I think a bit of partisan interest crept into my predictions as neither Cave (although she led for most of the race) or Amey could produce the goods by the end of this 70.3.

Ironman Panama 70.3 Preview

The inaugural Panama 70.3 race kicks off tomorrow and there is more than a little interest around this event. A stellar male start list means that the mens pro race should be fascinating – not least because the biggest sideshow in town, Lance Armstrong, will be on the start list.
