Interview: Joe Skipper on his Marshman win and targeting Ironman UK 70.3

Fresh from smashing the field at Marshman, the first middle distance UK tri of the year, is Joe Skipper - a National Middle Distance champion.

I caught up with this ambitious triathlete who has already won Marshman, came 6th at the recent Tristar Cannes and has just returned from a brutal training camp with former Outlaw winner Paul Hawkins. This guy likes to train hard.

In this interview, Joe speaks about a very good 3 weeks in his career and how he hopes this will prove a spring board for top performances in some of Britain’s biggest long distance races.

Skipper wins Marshman and all the weekend action

In my weekend preview last Thursday I said this would be a quiet bank holiday for British action. I was wrong!

Wins and podiums were abound and the first UK middle distance triathlon, Marshman, was raced under difficult weather conditions were the field were obliterated by Joe Skipper.

Gossage takes a title and lots more long course action

Despite it being a relatively quiet weekend on the international circuit - the pro’s and elites from the British Isles still conspired to put in performances that made it a very interesting and successful weekend all around.

Lucy Gossage will of course rightly take the plaudits for taking the title of European Long Distance Duathlon Champion - but she wasn’t the only pro in action at this race or indeed elsewhere. Read the rest of the article to find out who was in action this weekend.

Weekend Preview: The glamour of Cannes

There isn’t much to preview on the long course circuit this week. The only real notable long course race is on the Tristar circuit in glamourous Cannes.

The only Brit pro registered is is Joe Skipper, who is the reigning British Middle Distance champion and looking to make a big impact here.

Joe has blogged that he has been dealing with an injury following a bike crash, which has affected his preperations but is still hoping to compete at the top end:

…looking to Tristar Cannes I would love to make the podium but would be pleased with a top 5.

Also racing is Formula One Racing Driver and elite level age-grouper, Jenson Button.

Race preview: Challenge Fuerteventura and Tri-Star Majorca

Ignore the wet and windy conditions outside your window - the action this week is in Spain! Two big races have attracted plenty of British pro’s in search of nice prize pots and top racing action.

The Challenge series comes to Fuerteventura for a middle distance race and has attracted 7 professionals from British shores - including the comeback race for our most decorated long course athlete.

Tristar Majorca, has attracted a large crowd including 9 professionals.
