Bayliss and Bayliss to race Ironman UK

Both Bella and Stephen Bayliss have been announced as racing at the 2012 edition of Ironman UK.

Both have won the event before and won’t be coming to make up the numbers - they fight for this title with fierce athleticism. I still recall Bella’s quiet tears as she was forced to surrender her crown to Yvette Grice on the run leg in 2010.

Bella and Stephen Bayliss are in fine form this year having both claimed 2nd at the Ironman Lanzarote race this past weekend.

The Bayliss’ have joined Petr Vabrousek and Cyril Viennot on the starting line with more announcements to come.

Petr Vabrousek confirms for Ironman UK

Serial racer, Petr Vabrousek has been confirmed as racing at the 2012 Ironman UK race. He will immediately enter as one of the favourites for this race.

Vabrousek, who dislikes training so races often, won on these shores last year at Challenge Henley and also came 10th at the ITU Long Distance championships. Those were just two results out of 35 races last year - which included an incredible 21 podiums across a variety of distances from half-marathons to the full Ironman distance.

At Henley, he beat race favourite Stephen Bayliss so it will be fascinating to see these two duel on British soil this year once again.

Vabrousek has found an unusual formula that works for him as he has already raced 11 times in 2012 with the stand out results being 6th at Ironman South Africa and 6th at Challenge Wanaka.

Ironman UK adds Viennot to the pro race

Ironman UK has started the build up to Bolton by announcing Cyril Viennot in the mens pro field.

Viennot recently came second at Ironman South Africa - no mean feat considering the brutal winds on that day.
