It was a huge weekend on the WTC circuit and most of the headlines were written at Ironman Lanzarote – namely Graves suicide drive on the bike and the Bayliss’ demonstrating the perfectly paced Ironman to take double podiums.
Lanzarote wasn’t the only race though and British Isles triathletes were performing at Ironman Texas, Columbia, the ITU World Cross Tri World Championships and much more.
Ironman Lanzarote promised to be a cracker and it delivered. British pro racers played a massive part in this classic version of the Ironman race and many played their parts in today’s drama.
At the sharp end, it was Clan Bayliss who demonstrated their permanent class - to remind everyone of what a dominant force they are when trained and peaked. Both claimed second in their respective categories, with perhaps Bella grabbing more of the headlines being as it was her first race at this distance for over a year.
Read on to find out the results of Ironman Lanzarote and how all our racers from the British Isles did.
Dan Halksworth has had an amazing start to the year - taking 2nd at Challenge Fuerteventura.
Whilst the plan was to always race the longer stuff, it wasn’t supposed to be until 2013/14 but these series of top performances have indicated to his coach Brett Sutton, that he is ready to take the next step.
Racing today at Ironman Lanzarote, Dan hopes to put in the kind of performance that his earlier results have indicated are possible. I’ve tipped him to come top 5 here.
Enjoy the interview below, conducted by James Mitchell, prior to the race starting.

I caught up with Dan to discuss the weekends results, his training regime under the hard-working Brett Sutton camp, financial issues with racing pro and much more.
Some amazing results coming out of Fuerteventura this morning and Emma-Kate Lidbury continues her rise through the elite ranks with a superb win here.
Not only did Emma-Kate Lidbury take the win, but fellow Brit Lucy Gossage recovered from a tough start to the run leg to storm into second, and Dan Halksworth was in the mix right from the off and finished in second place.
Ignore the wet and windy conditions outside your window - the action this week is in Spain! Two big races have attracted plenty of British pro’s in search of nice prize pots and top racing action.
