Chrissie Wellington out of London Marathon

The first lady of British Long Distance triathlon, Chrissie Wellington, has been forced to withdraw from parts of her upcoming endurance charity challenge because of a broken toe.

The complete challenge was going to be a mega duathlon of Paris Marathon, 1,000km bike ride and the London Marathon but due to the severity of the injury, this has been scaled back to the still admirable 1,000km bike challenge.

Chrissie Wellington: Triathlete of the Year 2012

The first lady of Ironman - the current world champion, Chrissie Wellinton has been awarded “Triathlete of the Year” at the Endurance Live awards in Los Angeles.

The awards are for the top triathletes, cyclists and runners in order to recognise athletic performance in endurance sports.

Chrissie Wellington, the 4-time World Champion and all-round good egg was interviewed on Radio 4 today. She spoke about her accomplishments, women in sport, the profile of triathlon and her book.
