Interview: Joe Skipper on his Marshman win and targeting Ironman UK 70.3

Fresh from smashing the field at Marshman, the first middle distance UK tri of the year, is Joe Skipper - a National Middle Distance champion.

I caught up with this ambitious triathlete who has already won Marshman, came 6th at the recent Tristar Cannes and has just returned from a brutal training camp with former Outlaw winner Paul Hawkins. This guy likes to train hard.

In this interview, Joe speaks about a very good 3 weeks in his career and how he hopes this will prove a spring board for top performances in some of Britain’s biggest long distance races.

5-time Olympian signs up for Challenge Henley

Graham Bell, the former British ski star and 5-time Olympian has announced he will be racing as an age-group contender at the 2012 edition of Challenge Henley.

Bell is one of several athletes crossing-over from their regular sports to long course triathlon this year in the UK and has signed up to his local event that takes place this year on the 16th September.

Scott Neyeldi, former winner of Ironman UK and an established pro, has announced through his website his race plans for 2012, and also reveals how difficult life as a long course pro actually can be.

Included in the post were plans to race as a pro at Challenge Cairns and Challenge Henley. The British race is now assembling a very nice and experienced field for its second run.

However, reading between the lines you can see that it is not easy for a pro triathlete to compete. Mentioned was injuries, his inability to race and train full-time and training on a budget.

Bella Bayliss Picks Up A Win

Pro Bella Bayliss has picked up her first win of the season - the Gran Canaria Half Marathon - in a time of 1:25:25. Her husband, Stephen Bayliss was due to run in the Marathon race but had to withdraw due to injury.
