Lanzarote wasn’t the only race though and British Isles triathletes were performing at Ironman Texas, Columbia, the ITU World Cross Tri World Championships and much more.

Bryan McCrystal links up with new sponsor

Bryan McCrystal, Ireland’s answer to Lance Armstrong (he’s a mean fast biker!) has today announced a new sponsorship deal with Tommy the Bike, Dundalk.

Tommy the Bike is McCrystal’s local bike store and as part of the link-up they have supplied him with a speed machine - the Trek Speed Concept 9.9.

McCrystal blogged:

Everyone loves speed, we all try and find ways to get faster without doing the hard work. ie training. If thats your strategy, open up the cheque book and say hello to Mr Trek. If you accuse me for buying speed I am guilty as charged. Lock me up and throw away the key and put me away for a long time! I’ve been a bad man

This truly is a dream bike that I can’t wait to ride!

Bryan McCrystal and his new speed machine are next due out for a ride at Ironman Lanzarote on May 19th,

Tristar Majorca, has attracted a large crowd including 9 professionals.

Triathlete results over the weekend

There wasn’t much long-distance to report on from the Easter weekend. Even triathletes need a weekend off racing and time to eat a ton of chocolate.

However, casting my eye down some results I spotted a few of our long distance triathletes were racing the odd short course race.

Bryan McCrystal reports: Abu Dhabi

Irish pro Bryan McCrystal had a tough race in Abu Dhabi. A poor swim meant he missed the first and second group going out and a lonely bike ride ensured.

But there were tons of positives to take from the race and he has written a really interesting race report, which you can read below.
