Slovakia lags behind the rest of Europe. We lack the people to achieve better results in an important field

The most common problem for Slovak companies in the field of digitalization is the lack of experts. According to the European Commission, companies in the Central and Eastern European region still lag behind the EU average in terms of digital transformation. The problem in particular lies in the low productivity and availability of financial resources as well as human capital.

As stated by the Slovak Alliance for Innovative Economies (SAPIE), the digitization of companies is the key to economic growth, and despite the development of policies and strategies in this area, the problem often lies in their ineffective implementation.

“In addition to supporting the retraining of people for digital professions, the state can also support private educational institutions, bridge the gap in the market and provide education that is lacking in the university system,” SAPIE CEO Michel Kardosh believes.

Companies also struggle with bureaucratic barriers that make digital business particularly difficult, which are fast and agile. The efforts of small or start-up companies to invest a disproportionate amount of money in developing new digital solutions are also problematic.

One way to help companies advance digitization is through various forms of assistance. For now, the most important of them is the recovery plan.
