Jodie Swallow writes an open letter to all non PTU affiliated pros
Pro triathlete Jodie Swallow has written an open letter (originally published here) to all professional triathletes not attached to the PTU, outlining her beliefs as to why they should join.
The emotive letter talks about Jodie’s own personal, professional experiences, including, “….seen the best pro women allocated inferior rule and safety provisions than the slowest age group racer. Top women being repeatedly penalised due to the actions of back marker men. I have participated in Championship races held where age group pelotons are peppered with professional ladies; where there is little to no media provision; where the race is unfair for every single racer. French Olympian Laurent Vidal dies aged 31
We are sad to report the passing of French Olympian Laurent Vidal, who has died aged 31, reportedly of a cardiac arrest (source L ‘Equipe).
Vidal’s career soared to great heights and he famously finished 5th at the London Olympic Games in 2012 but a cardiac incident in 2014 brought his career to a sudden halt and he retired to become a full-time coach based in New Zealand, with fiance and fellow ITU star Andrea Hewitt amongst his stable of athletes.
We send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Laurent Vidal.
