New Activities, New Reports and Highlights: An update on the latest developments in the Govt-19 epidemic worldwide.
The situation in France
According to figures released by health officials on Thursday, the number of Kovit-19 patients is still rising, while the situation in the West Indies is worrying, with some receiving the 3rd vaccine dose.
Of the 9,465 people affected by Govt-19 disease in hospitals on Thursday (9,233 registered on Wednesday), 894 were newly admitted (773 registered on Wednesday).
Critical care services treating the most affected patients, a total of 1,807 patients (1,745 the previous day and 1,420 a week ago, this indicator was below the 1,000 limit on July 7). These services had 191 additions in a single day (Wednesday 158 readings). In the last 24 hours, 77 deaths have been reported in hospitals, up from the previous day 54.
Faced with this worrying picture, the vaccine “booster campaign” for the 3rd dose becomes clear. “About 5 million people are being targeted at this stage,” the elderly or “high risk”, the health ministry described.
Since the vaccination campaign began in France, 45,857,880 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 68% of the total population) and 38,474,940 now have a complete immunization schedule (i.e. 57.1% of the population).
If the resumption of the epidemic worries the whole of France, the administrator for the West Indies is concerned, citing a “dramatic” health crisis. Strict control, reinforcements of caregivers and soon “reinforcements of reinforcements” are on the menu in Martinique and Guadeloupe, according to officials.
In addition, the partial imprisonment on Reunion Island, which is in effect from July 31, has been extended to August 31.
In metropolitan France, although the situation is very dire, the Mediterranean margin is being closely monitored as white projects are launched to strengthen staff at hospitals in Corsica and the Atlantic coast.
The administrator has given another twist to the screw, announcing the extension of the health pass to more than 20,000 square meters of shopping centers in sectors with more than 200 cases per 100,000 people. According to AFP estimates, this level should affect one-third of the 350 centers of this size.
One month after the vaccination duty for health workers came into force, at least 80% of caregivers working in hospitals or nursing homes have received at least one injection, according to the Ministry of Health.
The vaccine is clearly advancing among caregivers, and it is imperative to receive or withhold at least one dose by September 15th.
In healthcare institutions (both public and private), the proportion of “at least one injected” specialist increased from 64% on May 31 to 80%. 8 In August, according to a ministry document released earlier this week to liberal unions and hospital federations.
Based on France’s assessment of public health, this presentation, which received a copy of the AFP, did not specify the dosage of the vaccine by profession.
– Daily record of deaths in Russia –
Russia recorded 808 deaths on Thursday due to Kovit-19 in a record 24 hours since the outbreak due to delta variation and sluggish vaccine campaign.
The report brings the total number of deaths registered by the government due to Govt-19 to 168,049. The Russian statistics agency Rosstad has a broad definition, saying that by the end of June 2021 more than 300,000 people had died.
A seven-day lockout in the Australian capital, Canberra, was announced by authorities on Thursday following the discovery of a corona virus case.
About 400,000 people in the city where the government sits will be limited to 5:00 pm (08:00 GMT) on Thursday, thus joining the millions of Australians in the southeastern part of the already large island-continent to stay at home.
– Curfew in Polynesia
French Polynesia has been placed under curfew and the islands of Tahiti and Mooria will now be restricted to Sunday only to prevent the spread of Govt-19. Going to the beaches especially on that day will be prohibited.
After several months of a very weak cycle of the virus, the epidemic suddenly re-emerged in Polynesia in early August due to delta variation.
New restrictions in Finland
Officials said on Thursday that Finland would impose new health restrictions to combat the spread of the corona virus in the capital, Helsinki, after recording the highest daily infection rate in the country.
As of August 20, indoor events in and around Helsinki will be limited to 25 people and outdoor meetings to 50.
– Growth returns in the United Kingdom –
The British economy recovered in the second quarter, recovering 4.8% of GDP, thanks to the lifting of health restrictions, but the risks persist, especially with the rise of delta variability.
The UK is one of the developed countries hardest hit by the epidemic, with GDP falling nearly 10% last year, the worst in 300 years and the death toll of more than 130,000.
Balance in the world
Of the more than 204.7 million infections, at least 4,323,957 have been killed worldwide since the end of December 2019, according to a report established by AFP from official sources at 10:00 GMT on Thursday.
The United States has the highest mortality rate (618,479) compared to Brazil (565,748), India (429,669), Mexico (246,203) and Peru (197,146).
The World Health Organization estimates that the number of infections directly and indirectly linked to Govt-19 is two to three times higher than the official estimate.
