The ceremony of handing over the official decorations at Prague Castle, which was scheduled to take place on October 28, has been cancelled.
Czech President Milos Zeman decided on Monday to postpone the delivery of traditional official awards marking the anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia on October 28. The ceremony has been postponed to January 1, 2022 and the president intends to attend it in person, the iDnes.cz portal reported.
Personal presentation of prizes
The President of the Republic confirmed today that he will use the Order of January 1, 2022, for the celebration associated with the presentation of the state’s medals borrowed and granted.
Former Presidential Adviser and Minister of Health Roman Primula informed the Czech media in the morning that the ceremony of handing over the state decorations at Prague Castle, which was scheduled to take place on October 28, has been cancelled. However, he did not provide information on the day the ceremony will be moved.
This concert was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic last year. Novinky.cz writes that the reason for his transfer this year is the health of the president. Zeeman first announced that he would present the awards in a wheelchair. However, he is currently hospitalized due to an unspecified illness at the Central Military Hospital.
The Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis had said earlier that he saw fit to postpone the ceremony.
Already two weeks in the hospital
Citadel Protocol Director, Vladimir Krollis, stated that if there is a postponement of the awards ceremony on October 28, Citadel will publish the list of winners for that day at 8pm.
Zeman has been in hospital since October 10, when he was taken to hospital in an apparently helpless condition from the mansion in Lani. The president was last seen by the public in mid-September, when he was dismissed from the renovation residence in ÚVN, which he had completed due to “exhaustion and dehydration”.
