In Britain, thieves from Italy are guilty of stealing the homes of celebrities

London, Nov. 16 (TASR) – Three Italian thieves behind a series of major robberies in Britain have been arraigned in court on Monday for stealing £ 1,000,000 worth of cash, jewelery and gems from the homes of celebrities in 2019. AFP Agency.

The gang that targeted the home of Tamara Ecclestone, the daughter of former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, has been sentenced to nearly 28 years in prison. Former midfielder and Chelsea London Football Club manager Frank Lampard was among three victims of three theft incidents in 13 days in December 2019.

Jugoslav Jovanovic, 24, Alessandro Maltese, 45, and Alessandro Donati, 44, Italian nationals deported from Italy to Britain, were arrested. In London, they pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft, AFP writes.

Djokovic, who pleaded guilty to money laundering, was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Maltese and Donati were sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison. The phrases are in Italian.

The fourth member of the gang, Daniel Vukovic, 44, is believed to be a Serbian citizen, AFP reports. Vukovic fled to his homeland, and according to the court, attempts to deport him have so far failed.

During the robbery, the criminal gang stole valuables worth 31 million euros, most of them from Tamara Ecclestone’s home. He and his family were on vacation in Lapland on 13 December 2019 when his residence in Kensington’s special district in west London became the target of robbers. This is believed to be the biggest theft in the country’s history.

Police say the gang has committed similar crimes against socially superior victims across Europe and is planning to break into the homes of other wealthy and celebrities in the UK.
