Canadian hockey player Jamie Arnell has become an Overtime League player for HK Poprad.

He joined the Chamois squad after his previous employer, Bratislava Capitals, left IHL for the 2021/22 season. The Poprad Club has reported the new acquisition on the official website.

After the recent death of striker Boris Sadecki and his deputy Dusan Pasek Jr. I decided not to continue this year. Arnell is the fifth player to get a new job. Goalkeeper Konor Lakoff (Kalba) and striker Marc-Olivier Roy (Saipa) head to the top of the Finnish competition, Russian striker Nikolai Serdev will play in Italy (HCM Miran/O) and defender Samuel Ferreta is back in Novi Zamki.

Arniel played 14 matches with the capitals, in which he scored 11 points against 4 goals and made 7 assists. “I became a free agent and Poprad has given me great conditions, so I am looking forward to a new challenge. I want to continue being productive since the beginning of the year in Bratislava. I have played with many players who know Poprad and also with James Livingston. He has only told me great things about the club,” Arnell said.

“We were looking for a good striker for the second position in the middle, because our second and third squad were not productive enough. I think Jamie will bring the necessary productivity and these squads will also start to score regularly.” Said club director Udovit Gorini.

Arniella’s arrival is another of several changes in the “Chamois” cadre, which is in ninth place after 13 matches. The club’s management recently contacted a change of coach when Peter Mikola was replaced by Canadian Corey Nelson. Alex Schotek, 17, left Slovan Bratislava opposite Peter Kondrick, and was joined by striker Cole Ole, who started the 2021/2022 season at HKM Zvolen.
