With healthy respect, but also a determination to take action against a favorite opponent, Slovak hockey players under the age of 20 will compete for their opening match at the World Championships in Canada.

On Sunday, December 26, from 7.30 pm Canadian time (in Slovakia, already on December 27 at 3.30 am CET), the US title holders will be in Red Deere. We will watch the match live.
Two 16-year-old hockey players, Maxim Sterback and Dalibor Dvorsko, will also attend the premiere of the junior championship.
“There’s something new waiting for me, but I think I’m very well prepared. We have a great squad, and I’m looking forward to that,” defender Starbuck said on the web. hockeysl Slovakia.sk. He added to the margin of the opening an opponent that raises respect:
“The Americans have a very good team. The start may be more difficult for me, but everything can be done.
I think the boys will help me too. Americans are quality skiers with good technical equipment. I will try to play in a defensive position as best I can, which is simply trying to push the pucks forward.”
The Americans defeated the Slovaks 5:2 a year ago and then, after the final victory over the Canadians (2:0), enjoyed the world title for the fifth time.
Over the past five years, American hockey players have won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medals at MSJ. In the same period, only Canadians were the most successful junior hockey players in the world.
The Slovaks suspect that the Americans will skate fast, attack high and end personal fights. Striker Philippe Mishar, who should be one of the leaders in coach Evan Venis’ pick at the age of 17, knows this too.
“We want to enter the tournament victorious, but it will not be easy. The United States is a good opponent, in addition to the current champion. There is nothing easy waiting for us.
We will have to skate well, finish fights, block shots and block in front of the opponent’s goalkeeper. But we are ready.
We focused on these elements in the last pre-match training and it looked good. “I think we will overcome the first hurdle,” said striker Poprad, who scored in the only preparatory match between Slovakia and Germany.
Before the start of the junior tournament, the Slovaks feel that the fan community under the leadership of Tatras has high expectations of them. However, the young actors tamed the exaggerated feelings.
“I’m very happy that people trust us. But honestly, we don’t try to realize that much. If we deal with it, it might tie our hands in matches, which is not good.
We have to go from one game to the next, doing the best performances we know. And I think we will not disappoint the Slovak fans with them,” Philippe Mishar added on the SZĽH website.
