The British government is considering the possibility of hotel isolation to come to the country.
A further 33,552 people in the UK have tested positive for Covit-19, bringing the total number of corona virus cases in the country to 36,17,459, according to official figures released on Saturday.
Another 1,348 died within 28 days of being tested for the positive corona virus. The total number of corona virus-related deaths in the UK now stands at 97,329.
As Britain accelerates efforts to improve border controls, Xinhua news agency reports that recent figures have emerged amid concerns about corona virus variants coming from abroad.
Peter Horby, chairman of the British Government’s New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threat Advisory Committee (Nervtok), said some measures would slow the movement of foreign corona virus strains, but it was “almost impossible” to control them completely.
“Variations are a concern … I think complete control of moving variants around the world is almost impossible, but we know that some actions will slow down the movement of these viruses around the world,” he said.
Local media reported on Saturday that the British government was considering the possibility of hotel isolation from coming to the country amid concerns about new corona virus strains abroad.
Government ministers will discuss the issue at a meeting on Monday on further tightening of border controls, a statement said.
The UK is currently under a third national lockout since the outbreak of the disease in the country. Similar regulatory measures are in place in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
