Future Slovnafts already exist today

Future Slovnafts already exist today

You have seen the future of the Slovak economy. No, I never had a Nostradamus prophecy that would take me back to 2035 or 2050. The future of our economy was walking before me in the form of the most successful finalists and winners in the history of the Young Innovative Entrepreneur, Student Entrepreneurship Award, Slovak Emerging University Cup, organized by Junior Chamber International Slovakia.

For many years I have been trying to personally support similar activities. I am sure that successful future owners of Slovak companies are among the approximately twenty companies that have been awarded. With a few exceptions, almost no one knows their names today. But in ten or twenty years, they will form the backbone of the Slovak economy. Just like today’s automakers, Slovnaft or US Steel. Most likely, among them are not only successful entrepreneurs, but also future prime ministers, ministers or heads of parliament, in short, people who will run this country for 10, 20 or 30 years.

However, by publicly appreciating and acknowledging them, our support for their efforts should not end, it should begin. Despite their young age, many of them have already managed to build companies that successfully provide smart solutions in medicine, industry, education and finance, but also innovate relatively traditional industries, such as food and agriculture. They’ve proven that they don’t need us to lead them by hand. However, there are many things we can do to make their lives easier. From accessing funding through advisory services to making the entire innovation system look like a well-performing orchestra, with a few essential instruments.

But we do not forget the most important thing. We can help them more with business bureaucracy, bureaucratic recruitment, and bureaucracy to access euro funds. At the same time, we are well aware that the first two administrative packages to reduce burdens from the Ministry of Economy are just the beginning on this path, and achieving this goal successfully will require several years of concerted efforts to improve the business environment.

It is businessmen, not politicians, who are our hope for solutions to the many problems facing Slovakia and the world today. Politicians can stylize it, as we see these days in Glasgow for example, but they won’t solve it. The only effective answer we have in solving economic, social or environmental problems is entrepreneurship and creativity. We can overcome or develop entrepreneurship and creativity. Not only is it our competitiveness, but our survival literally depends on which of these options we choose.
