Delhi: Seven people with a UK trip to Lok Nayak Hospital

Of the 14 Covit-19 samples processed by the National Center for Disease Control (NCTC) to verify genetic sequences, eight were tested in favor of the new variant found in the UK, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday. Fourteen samples were sent from the Delhi airport to the laboratory, where passengers traveling from the UK tested positive.

Of those with the new variant, three are from Punjab and Haryana and one each from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra, senior health officials said. One of the returnees escaped from Delhi to Andhra Pradesh and was admitted to a hospital there.

The remaining seven are being treated in the special ward of Lok Nayak Hospital. In the first group of flyers that tested positive for Covid-19, three were found to have a new variant. Of them, two are from Punjab and one from Andhra Pradesh, ”said a senior state health official.

Delhi, meanwhile, has reported Govt-19 new cases and 21 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,24,795 and the death toll to 10,523. The daily positive rate was 0.80% and the mortality rate was 3.16% based on data from the last 10 days.

The Delhi government has appointed Lok Nayak Hospital to treat all travelers from the UK who test positive for Govt-19. 38 patients have been admitted to the special ward of the hospital. A senior doctor at the hospital said, “A report on the genetic sequence of 28 passengers is still pending.”

On Wednesday, the Delhi government ordered four private hospitals: Max Hospital in Socket, Batra Hospital in Tughlaqabad, Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. November 25 and December 24.

Although the Ministry of Civil Aviation suspended flights from the UK as soon as the new strain was discovered, two planes that tested positive for the 11-passenger Covit-19 later landed in Delhi.

The state government had decided to test all passengers traveling from the UK from November 25 to December 23. A list was shared with each district and the contacts of those tested positive were isolated.
