Slovakian representative Stefan Svetko moved, on Sunday, to the twelfth place in the general classification of the motorcyclists competition in this year’s edition of the Dakar Rally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The 39-year-old Shashkovchan was 33rd after Saturday’s introduction, having issues with the road brochure, but on Sunday he reached 11th (+17:41min) and moved up to 10th place.
As on Saturday and Sunday, Australian Daniel Sanders triumphed, currently behind him Svetko trailing by 28:36 minutes. Second place was held by the Chinese Pablo Quintanilla, who lost 3:07 minutes to the leader, and the third is the continuous Matthias Falkner of Austria (+11: 06 minutes).
A year ago, Argentine Championship defender Kevin Benavides slipped to 14th after finishing fourth on Saturday.
The riders, on Sunday, completed a total of 514 kilometers, of which 333 kilometers were measured. The beginning and the end were in Hail. 86 motorcyclists have already completed the track.
The stage was tough, and several riders managed to get lost:
Laisvydas Kancius of Lithuania is the current leader in the ATV competition, Argentine defending champion Manuel Andujar slipped to 10th after winning in the front on Saturday.
And as on Saturday and Sunday, among the cars was the best Nasser Al-Attiyah from Qatar, the second is the French Sebastien Loeb in the incomplete ranking and the third is the Czech Martin Prokop. So far, only 13 cars have completed the designated section and the results do not include Frenchman Carlos Sainz, the third from South Africa’s Brian Baragwanath or Czech Miroslav Zabeltal with Slovakian driver Marek Secor.
In the truck competition, all machines are still on track, and part of the crew of the Hungarian ship Zsolt Darászi is also Slovakian Ľubomír Palčo.
