Corona Virus: Ukraine records 25,000 new cases and 793 deaths

Ukraine reported 25,063 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and 793 deaths linked to COVID-19 on Friday.

The Associated Press reported that the death toll of 793 on Friday was the highest daily death toll since the pandemic began. Ukraine has seen an increase in the number of infections in recent weeks, which is a burden on the country’s health system.

Only 17.9 percent of the country’s 41 million people have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. It is the second lowest vaccination rate in Europe after Armenia.

In an effort to stem the spread of the disease among teachers, civil servants and other workers, authorities have ordered that they be fully vaccinated by November 8. Failure to comply with this condition may result in a suspension of payment.

A vaccination certificate or negative test is currently required when boarding a plane, riding a train, and traveling on long-distance buses.

More than a thousand people closed several streets in the center of the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on Wednesday in protest against certificates of vaccination against the Covid virus and anti-pandemic restrictions aimed at stopping the spread of the disease.

Ukraine has recorded more than three million cases and 71,635 deaths related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
