Corona Virus The fourth wave of the epidemic is likely to reach its peak in Hungary: Omicron has not yet been tested

In a regular interview on Friday with public radio station Kossuth Rádió, Orban said that in the past 24 hours, more than 51,000 people have been vaccinated in Hungary, the vast majority of whom have already received the third dose of the vaccine.

Regarding the vaccination of children over the age of five, Urban emphasized that scientists have unequivocally confirmed that it is not dangerous. According to him, such a step is necessary to slow down the epidemic, because the unvaccinated are responsible for the spread of the Corona virus. The vaccination of children against the Corona virus will begin in Hungary on December 15. “Only a vaccinated family can sit together without fear on Christmas Eve,” Urban said.

No coronavirus variant detected for Omicron Laboratories

The labs have not yet discovered a sample to confirm the presence of the Omicron coronavirus variant in Hungary. Zoltan Kiss, a virologist at the National Health Center (NNK), said this on M1 public television on Friday. “However, reports from neighboring countries indicate that a new surge of coronavirus will soon appear in our country as well.” said Kiss, who explained that omicron already exists and is spreading not only among passengers in Croatia, Romania and the Czech Republic, but has also appeared in Estonia and Lithuania.

According to him, the important question remains whether the disease caused by omicron is milder than in the case of previous mutations of the Corona virus, because it can significantly affect the next pandemic wave.
