A new chapter for triathlon: Challenge Bahrain launched
Challenge Family have today launched a new race on their calendar, and it is a huge one in terms of expansion into new markets and pro prize money.
Challenge Bahrain will make its debut on the tri-calendar on the 4th December 2014 and has put up a whopping great big prize pot of $500,000. Which to put into context is double that of the Ironman 70.3 World Championships.

World champion Hauschildt steps up at Port
The women’s event at this years Toyota IRONMAN Australia looks set to be a battle between a first timer with speed to burn, and one of the most experienced Ironman athletes the sport has to offer.
Two time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Australia’s Melissa Hauschildt is making her Ironman debut and she’ll be up against American Hilary Biscay who has completed an amazing 60 Ironman events, notching up 18 podium finishes and 30 top-5 finishes.
Challenge Denmark announced
The Challenge Family global series of long distance triathlons has returned to Scandinavia with today’s announcement of Challenge Denmark. Centered in the spectacular Jutland region, the first event will take place on 13 June 2015 over both the full and half distance. It promises to delight athletes and families alike with its unique focus around Legoland Billund Resort.
Hauschildt steps out at Ironman Australia
Two time IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Melissa Hauschildt has chosen Australia’s most enduring Ironman event to make her debut at the distance.
After much speculation the Australian has finally silenced the question she is frequently asked at this time of year. When are you moving up to Ironman? Answer, “I’m doing the Toyota IRONMAN Australia on May 4.”
International triathletes line up for Challenge Taiwan
On 19 April, over 1,500 triathletes will line up on the spectacular Taitung coastline in for the second Challenge Taiwan including a strong international pro field. Both Dylan McNeice (NZL) and Belinda Granger (AUS) are back to defend their titles and for Granger, Challenge Taiwan marks a major milestone – her 50th long distance triathlon.
Yvonne van Vlerken injures collarbone during training-ride
Only a few weeks after her sensational race at Abu Dhabi International Triathlon where she had a tough head -to-head fight for victory with the reigning Ironman 70.3 World Champion Melissa Hauschildt, Yvonne van Vlerken suffered an injury on her right collarbone due to a bike-crash while on a home-visit in Holland.
Challenge announces Challenge Shepparton
A key part of Australian long course triathlon tradition will continue with today’s announcement of Challenge Shepparton, taking place on 16 November 2014.
The 1.9km swim, 90km ride and 21.1km run triathlon will build on Shepparton tradition, but will offer a completely new course, with the event being held at the iconic Victoria Park Lake, Shepparton.
