Stuart Hayes, Liz Blatchford hit the Ironman 70.3 Malaysia podium

Stuart Hayes came away from Malaysia with his first ever Ironman 70.3 podium finish in a time of 4:01:10 in what was a talented field featuring the race winner Craig Alexander and second placed athlete Josh Amberger.

Liz Blatchford was also kicking off her season in style, with a 2nd place performance in a similarly strong womens field.

Blatchford will hope that this will be a platform to push on for the big Kona win she has been dreaming off and has come so close to in recent years.

Hole Park Mtb Duathlons and trail runs are a bit of an unmissable fixture for Beyond Going Long’s Rich Campbell. Having raced the inaugural 2014 event and commentated on the 2015 event (featuring a legends field of Sam Gardner, Richard Stannard, Jez Cox etc), it was time to don the trail shoes and get the knobbly tyres for an early season duathlon hit set within the gorgeous Kent gardens of the Hole Park Estate.

The incomparable Cameron Brown once again defied the sands of time as the 43-year-old bagged his 12th victory, it proved a day of double triumph with American Meredith Kessler, who won for the fifth straight time in Taupo, and Brown both establishing new course records.

Alice Hector, Vicky Gill set to take on the Windsor Duathlon in star field

Whilst Hector and Gill represent long distance fans interests in the race, it is hard to look past the 2015 ITU World Duathlon Champion, Emma Pallant as odds-on favourite to top the podium in the elite senior women’s race.

Claiming gold in 2015’s ‘run-only’ event , at Rockingham Circuit, due to adverse weather conditions Emma looks to defend her British Elite Duathlon title this weekend. Training has been going well, with Emma commenting: “I’ve recently flown back to England after a great training block in Spain with Team Dillon and am looking forward to racing the first Windsor Duathlon, in hunt for a national duathlon title.

Like the sport of triathlon, the mission of Team Phoenix is threefold. The mind, body and soul are all seriously affected by the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Zone3 welcomes GB Ironman athlete Joe skipper to the team
