British warship collides with Russian attack submarine in London Atlantic

A British warship collided with a Russian attack submarine while patrolling the North Atlantic.

The incident, which took place in late 2020, was confirmed by the British Ministry of Defense, whose reports were quoted by the Free Europe Center on Friday.

The British Royal Navy’s HMS Northumberland warship strikes an unspecified Russian submarine tracked by its towing sonar.

The crew who filmed the episode of the warship captured the incident: Life at Sea on the ship; It is currently airing on Channel 5.

The British Ministry of Defense had not previously commented on the clash, but as the situation was recorded by cameras, the ministry confirmed the connection.

“Our navy frequently monitors the movements of foreign vessels to ensure the security of the United Kingdom.” According to the British Ministry of Defense.

Ministry sources told the BBC that a Russian submarine was unlikely to deliberately collide with a British warship’s sonar cable.

It is not clear if there was any damage to the Russian submarine. However, the warship HMS Northumberland had to return to the Scottish port, where it was replaced by damaged sonar.
