Arteta demands Wenger return to Arsenal. What will he do there? The current coach cannot answer that

Arsene Wenger’s days at Arsenal football may not be fully reckoned with yet.

The legendary French coach, who led Arsenal to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup titles over the course of 22 years, could well return to the scene in north London. The current coach of the “Gunners” Mikel Arteta, who has already spoken with Wenger about the possibility of helping, wants this.

The 39-year-old played for Arsenal in the years 2011-16 under Wenger, who is now 72 and basically retired. However, this is not entirely true, as he works for FIFA as the head of the global football development department.

“If he comes back and can be with us for a while, it will have a positive impact on the people at the club. I think everyone will be excited. Wenger still has a lot of respect at Arsenal, and the people here love him for everything. The club did,” Arteta claims according to the BBC portal. When asked what specifically Wenger could do for Arsenal, Arteta answered evasively: “I can’t say exactly, but it will definitely help me and the club.”

Arteta has been Arsenal’s coach since December 2019, when he replaced his compatriot Unai Emery. Wenger has officially ended his “endless” work on the bench “The Gunners”, calculating 1,235 games in the 2017/18 season.

Under Artett, Arsenal won the FA Cup in the 2019/2020 season, but after finishing eighth in the Premier League, the players of this great London club did not qualify for the European Cup for the first time in 25 years. Currently, after 12 matches from 2021/22, Arsenal is fifth in the table. A local duel with Newcastle United awaits him next Saturday.
