After updating to Android 12, OnePlus is blocking the features of modded Gcam apps.
Owners of OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro smartphones running Android 12, in addition to only the unstable update, may encounter a new problem. This is about a modified application – Gcam, which allows you to take pictures in a completely different way. However, upgrading to Android 12, with the OxygenOS 12 extension, caused some features of the app to be disabled. The new version blocks access to additional cameras – wide angle and telephoto.
This is due to the common code that OxygenOS shares with ColorOS, which smartphone manufacturer OPPO uses on its smartphones. The ColorOS graphics extension blocks alternative photography apps, and that’s also the case with Gcam for photos. On OnePlus devices, the mod, nicknamed Urnyx05, had access to other cameras, but until then, Gcam was only able to take pictures with the main camera. Other mods have started building their own Google Camera ports for their modification.
So if you want to keep using all the lenses of your OnePlus smartphone, it is recommended (at least for now) not to upgrade your device to Android 12 with the OxygenOS 12 extension. At least until mods come up with a new solution.
