The Cycling Memorial in Paris-Roubaix was the last event where we saw Slovakian champion Peter Sagan in a BORA-hansgrohe team jersey. During five years of cooperation, they have achieved many great successes together, and the end is a loss for both parties.
We will see Berta Sagan from the new season in the French TotalEnergies shirt. Before that, however, he took the time and space to bid farewell to the entire BORA-hansgrohe team. “When you enjoy what you do in a pleasant company, time flies by! It’s like yesterday when I shook hands with Ralph Dink and joined the BORA-hansgrohe family. But 5 years have passed since then!” Said a citizen of Jilina on social networks.
Peter Sagan’s collaboration with the German BORA-hansgrohe team lasted five years, during which the Tourminator became world champion, winning the Paris-Roubaix, twice the green jersey at the Tour de France, once the cyclamen jersey at the Giro d’Italia and many other races.
“It was a very emotional moment for me when I had dinner and the last party after Paris – Roubaix with the riders, colleagues and sponsors. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my career, but at the same time I have fond memories of the time we spent together.
During those years, we celebrated a lot of success together and supported each other, but we also went through some tough times. In my view, this team spirit is our strength through thick and thin, “ Follow the 32-year-old cyclist.
Peter Sagan’s separation from the cycling stable BORA-hansgrohe has been closed for a long time. At times, it seemed like the stakeholders were parting badly.
“I would like to thank Ralph Denko for welcoming me to the team, and all of our sponsors from BORA, Hansgrohe, Specialized, Sportful and RIDE 100% to our smallest support resource, my teammates for their tremendous dedication and effort at every race. And all the team members for an incredible job. Well Thank you,” Peter Sagan concluded.
After the 2021 season, in addition to brothers Peter and Juraj Saganov, their compatriot Eric Baska and sporting director Jan Valach leave the team from Rübling, Germany. Peter Sagan and Jan Valach will continue at the French TotalEnergies team, Juraj Sagan and Erik Baška do not have a certain future yet.
Among the Slovaks who were in other positions on the BORA-hansgrohe team is still Peter Kalány, who was promoted to the position of physiotherapist and nutritionist as well as mechanic Ján Bachleda.
