Brits head to South America
ITU World Cup action continues this weekend in Colombia with Emma Pallant and Tom Bishop representing Great Britain. Chris Frost competes in the Manaus ITU World Paratriathlon event in Brazil.
The Cartagena ITU World Cup takes place over the standard distance. Following a beach start the 1500m swim is in the Caribbean Sea. The 40km bike ride is flat, as is the final 10km run.
Olympic Champion, Nicola Spirig (SUI) starts as favourite in a strong women’s race having won the ITU World Cup event in Cozumel (Mexico) last weekend. Emma Pallant also raced well in Cozumel, finishing 7th, and will look for another strong finish this weekend.
Pallant is the only British starter in the line up of 56 women. Similarly, Tom Bishop will be the only British athlete in the men’s race. A strong field includes last weekend’s Cozumel winner, Etienne Diemusch of France.
