18 more UK flyers alert states as positive test | India News

New Delhi: Several states in the country are on high alert as 18 more flyers from the UK have been tested Positive For the Govt-19 virus on Thursday, the total number of infections since Sunday was 47. However, it is not yet confirmed whether this is a new Covit-19 virus strain recently discovered in the UK.

Their samples have now been sent to the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMP) for genetic sorting to determine if they are affected by an existing virus strain or a newly mutated and highly contagious UK variant. Sources told TOI that state health officials have gone on high alert and are aggressively monitoring the contacts of those who tested positive.
“Seven patients have been placed in isolation at various hospitals and separately from other Govt-19 patients,” a health department official said.
Corona virus strain has not yet been analyzed. One returnee said passengers were not properly checked before boarding a flight to the UK or after arriving in India.
