In a strong field, Lucy Gossage shone as she claimed third at Ironman 70.3 Mallorca, in a race that was won overall by Lisa Huttlaler and world-force Eneko Llanos.

Tamsin Lewis was also impressive and came 4th in a field that included the likes of Yvonne Van Vlerken, Eva Nystrom and Anja Beranek, There were plenty of British interest in the PRO race here, both in the ladies and men’s race, plus more than a few impressive age group performances.

Tamsin Lewis seeks new bike sponsor

Pro triathlete Tamsin Lewis is currently seeking a new bike sponsorship for 2013. Her current arrangement has fallen through, which presents an excellent opportunity for a bike manufacturer or shop to partner with one of the most exciting long-course triathlon talents in what should be an important year for her.

I caught up with Tamsin, who is a former amateur world champion and was in winning form through 2012 to find out more. This is a great opportunity for someone and well worth a read if you work in the cycling industry.

Lewis struck the car after a driver pulled out of a side road, causing the collision which resulted in some soft tissue damage on the same shoulder that she has twice broken before.

We all love Twitter, don’t we? Well, it seems like the majority of triathletes do and I happen to follow the very best of them. Everyday I spot funny, insightful, motivating and sometimes irrelevant tweets in my feed – many end up populating the stories you read on this tri-site.

Here’s the first in a new weekly feature of my favourite triathlon tweets of the week.

There was drama at the final ever Ironman 70.3 Laguna Phuket before the race even started – Ironman 70.3 and Ironman World Champion Leanda Cave passed out in the medical tent before the race started. This was due to an allergic reaction to pain medication and the race favourite and world champ was in no condition to race.

With the ladies side blown wide open, Laguna Phuket kicked off for the final time as an Ironman 70.3 series and the race was underway in fierce rain, heat and humidity.

The race was choca-full of British and Irish talent at the sharp pro end, whilst in the age-group race there were more British athletes than Spanish – surely we would see podiums-a-plenty? It was a tough race, made tougher by the strong winds. Here’s a round-up.
