The UK’s fastest ever Ironman (how good does that sound!) Joe Skipper has made a last minute change from his race schedule this weekend, switching from Ironman 70.3 Dublin to Challenge Regensburg.
Skipper is quoted as saying ‘he is excited and looking forward to it’.
Ironman 70.3 Dublin kicks off this weekend but perhaps with an extra challenge for those taking part. Yesterday a post on the official event Facebook page notified racers that there was a jellyfish warning in place at the swim location in Sandycove and that they were ‘monitoring’ the situation.
Ironman 70.3 Dublin is aware of the jellyfish warning at Sandycove. We are actively monitoring the situation and will take action if this issue persists over the coming days. The safety of the race participants is of utmost importance to us, and we have steps that we would take, should we need to take action on this issue of jellyfish in the swim section of the race course.
A cracking list of pros will be racing, including 32Gi Sports Nutrition latest signing Parys Edwards, plus Alice Hector, Susie Cheetham, Harry Wiltshire and Fraser Cartmell
Personally I wouldn’t mind getting in the water with the jelly fish and you would definitely have a tale to tell for your race reports, but obviously the racer safety must come first and Ironman will make a decision with that in mind at the end of the day.
Lucy Gossage, fresh of a double round of victory’s at Ironman UK and Alpe d’Huez, has suffered a broken collar bone following a cycling incident this week.

I was on my own, 90 minutes into a long ride. Hit a small pot-hole, wind caught my front wheel and BAM. I’m not going to pretend I’m not devastated. I am. Absolutely, completely gutted.
