Results are still coming out of Holland, but it is apparent that Lucy Gossage has produced another early season stunning result, to claim the title of European Long Distance Duathlon champion.

As details emerge, I will continue to update this page, but what is already clear is that Lucy Gossage is having a wonderful start to the season. Looking at the splits, she has produced the goods on the run to seal the title over the long distance and finished in a time of 3:04:50 – over a minute ahead of her nearest rivals.

Lucy has already claimed the British Duathlon title and come second at Challenge Fuerteventura – the common factor in all these races being a strong display in the run leg. Now this result provides further evidence that she is dining at the top table of long distance triathlon. I spoke to Lucy last month and she said that one day she dreams of winning an Ironman – I would argue that that day cannot be too far away.

Hilary Ross also did well coming in 29th.

Over in the men’s race – Emerald Racing team-mates David Vaughan and Mark Nolan were producing the goods, coming in 10th and 16th respectively. The race was however won by Powerman-winning machine Joerie Vansteelant. Also doing well was Richard Anderson (25th), Cristopher Dettmar (29th) and Christopher Wood (59th).
