Triathlete dies racing Ironman Nice
An athlete has died competing on the Ironman France (Nice) course this past Sunday June 23rd 2013.
Here is the official announcement from the WTC, with a press conference due to be called later today. Early unconfirmed reports are that the deceased person is a British male. Our thoughts are with his family.
Official announcement society IRONMAN has regret to announce the death of an athlete who took part this day, Sunday, June 23 at the IRONMAN France Nice.
At this moment all our thoughts as well as those of partners and all personnel associated with the organisation of the event go to the family, relatives and friends of the athlete.
The athlete was on the bike of the race course and the teams in charge of the Organization of the IRONMAN France Nice are currently working in full cooperation with the authorities to establish the circumstances of this tragic incident.
A press conference will be held this day in the presence of Yves CORDIER, Director IRONMAN France and clerk of the Course as well as Thomas DIECKHOFF, Director IRONMAN Europe, Middle East and South Africa.
