Vachery Triathlon Festival seeks race-day volunteers
You don’t have to race to participate
Organisers of the Vachery Triathlon Festival (21st July) and XTERRA England are looking for race-day volunteers to help make the event extra special for competitors. We’re looking for volunteers for two exciting new events at the Vachery Estate near Cranleigh in the heart of Surrey.
VOLUNTEERS ARE SPECIAL
Volunteers are the people who really make our events great. They are the ones who make the experience for the athletes every bit more special. There is always a great atmosphere at our races and as a volunteer you can help create that.
You’ll have a great day out and in return for your help we’ll give you
- A race technical t-shirt
- A packed lunch
- Generous out of pocket expenses
- A free entry to any one of our races
VOLUNTEERING AS A GROUP
We can make a donation to local clubs and groups who provide a number of volunteers. Contact us for details.
WHAT YOU COULD BE DOING
Roles at the races are varied; you could be doing any of the following which are just an example:
- Course and venue set-up – Moving, lifting and sticking
- Drink Station team – Providing hot and thirsty racers with drinks and gels
- Marshals – Keeping an eye on racers on the bike and run course
- Finish Team – Giving out medals and lending a hand to weary finishers
- Venue Team – Keeping the place tidy, nobody likes a messy place
- Competitor Registration – Checking racers in and making sure they are ready to race
- Course and venue pack up crew – Leaving the place as beautiful as we found it
VACHERY TRIATHLON FESTIVAL: 20TH – 21ST JULY
Sprint, Standard and Middle distance triathlon races. Registration takes place on the Saturday with a pasta party and fun in the evening, and then the racing starts early Sunday morning. Participants swim in the beautiful spring fed Vachery Pond and then head out on a challenging bike course taking in Leith Hill and surrounding areas, returning to the estate to run on country lanes to the finish.
XTERRA–ENGLAND: 6TH, 7TH & 8TH SEPTEMBER
Sprint and Standard distance off-road triathlon races, Big swim races and a 6 hour mountain bike endurance race. Camping and registration opens on the Friday. Saturday’s action includes the 6 hour mountain bike endurance race and the open water Big Swim races. There’s a big party in the evening to celebrate the day and get us all in the mood for the Triathlon in the morning. Sunday brings Sprint triathlon action followed by the XTERRA ENGLAND Championship, a qualifying event for the 2013 World Championship in Maui, Hawaii on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Some of the best athletes in the world will be racing at Vachery.
